May 8: heart book

May 9, 2013 § Leave a comment

Did you know that it’s teacher appreciation week? We certainly appreciate teachers in this household (since I am a teacher educator, and D. is a former teacher), and we especially appreciate J’s teachers. As a token of our appreciation, we are making them small gifts. We made the first one tonight. My job was to come up with an idea (let’s make a book!), gather materials (tissue paper, stickers, and all the other bits of stuff I don’t throw away because I assume they will come in handy), and provide cutting services. J’s job was to pick the type of book (heart-shaped, with a brad) from the Klutz book-making book, pick the colors of paper, and to decorate. We both had fun. He is always very patient with my craft ideas, and though he never initiates craft-making himself, he always humors me, and, yes, has a good time.
