April 27: Procession of the species

Ah, the beautiful people of Olympia! Every year the city organizes a procession of the species. It seems like the whole city participates in preparing the event, a huge celebration that also includes an art walk, sidewalk vendors, chalk drawing, and who knows what else. I always feel blessed to be able to witness it in all its community spirit, creativity, and beauty.
I took a lot of pictures at the procession today. The costumes were fantastic, but for some reason I was more interested in the people themselves, all beautiful and full of life. Especially those gorgeous hippie kids. Here are some of the highlights:
Just these two dandelions alone would have made my day.

No more processions for a while!
