February 12: Parade

February 13, 2013 § Leave a comment

J’s teacher puts on a lunar new year parade every year, bless her heart. It is an amazing event, and I have been looking forward to it for days. We came in early today to help the kids get ready, and I noted that I am glad I am not an elementary teacher. Yet it was so much fun to help the kids practice with the puppets, put their feet and hands into the proper openings in the costumes, help them take off their jackets, etc. I was also very proud of my little snake-carrying boy, who got up before 7 this morning, excited about the parade. This is how school should be all the time. They have been making the papier mache snake heads for a while now. So vicariously, we were creative too in participating in and documenting the event.

So here are some pictures, ones that don’t feature the faces of other people’s children whose pictures I have no business posting on the Internet.
