February 6: Snapping mouths
February 7, 2013 § Leave a comment
It was another origami evening tonight. I started off ambitiously, but when my lily ended up with three petals instead of four, I switched to another (easier) book, and projects the whole family could enjoy. So I made origami snapping mouths, and we all decorated them. They look awesome, though it’s hard to tell from the pictures I took. J. had a great role-playing game with his bird, which ate all the pompoms in the vicinity.
(The bird with a hat, and a lizard with a tail, both saying Aaaa! along with J.)
(The pages of the book, along with a snake sock puppet I also made tonight, though the family thinks it looks more like a bird.)
(D’s and my snapping mouths. )
Though I provided the impetus for the project, my creature is certainly not the best-decorated one. The guys outdid me by far, and I am glad. I am always glad when they participate.
Of course, I know I should be doing some art which would have me delve a little deeper and help me deal with recent anxieties, but I am just not motivated, and kids’ crafts cheer me up so.
Oh, yes, and the first day of work was quite nice.
