December 8: Gingerbread cookies and afternoons at the museum
December 9, 2012 § Leave a comment
It was an eventful day. From trying to catch a glimpse of salmon in their monumental task of swimming upstream to spawn and die, and watching the kids in their joy and wonder and silliness;
to spending the afternoon in the Glass Museum and watching the kids in their joy and wonder and calm while making drawings
and books (J’s was an epic battle between Emperor Palpatine and Luke Skywalker);
to making gingerbread men (and Santas) at home and watching the kids in all their joy and wonder and skill as they rolled out the dough, cut out the shapes, and decorated them.
It sounds more idyllic than it actually was, but I will spare you the details of the chaos and occasional drama. Instead, I will just say that gingerbread cookies are the ultimate pre-Solstice-Christmas baking event for the family, and that I am cheered up by the smell of cloves in the house.
